Wine enthusiasts know that the perfect glass of wine starts long before the pour—it begins with the ideal storage environment. In the heart of Las Vegas, a city known for its opulence and grandeur, a regular cabinet has been masterfully transformed into a framed glass wine closet that is not just a storage space but a statement of luxury and sophistication.
The Construction Process of Framed Glass Las Vegas Wine Closet
Steve from Custom Wine Cellar takes us through this remarkable journey of turning a mundane space into a wine connoisseur’s dream. The project demanded meticulous planning and execution, from demolishing the original structure to installing state-of-the-art cooling systems that whisper quietly while keeping your prized collection at the perfect temperature.
The choice of materials speaks volumes about the attention to detail that went into this project. Dual pane tempered glass ensures that even when the desert heat rises, your wine remains cocooned in its optimal climate. The walnut racking, accented with sleek black rods, offers a timeless elegance that showcases each bottle like a piece of art.
Why Use US Cellar RMD HS 6600 Cooling System for Wine Closets
The US Cellar RMD HS 6600 Cooling System is a state-of-the-art cooling unit designed specifically for wine cellars. It’s a ducted system, meaning it can be installed in a remote location away from the wine cellar, reducing noise and vibration within the cellar itself. This is particularly important for wine preservation, as both noise and vibration can negatively impact the aging process of the wine.
The RMD HS 6600 is highly efficient, expected to run about 40 to 50% of the day, especially after the room is filled with wine. This efficiency is further enhanced when the wine cellar is highly insulated, as was the case in the Las Vegas project. By oversizing the unit, it can run less frequently but for longer cycles, leading to more stable temperature and humidity control, which is crucial for wine preservation.
This cooling unit is an excellent choice for framed glass Las Vegas wine closets for several reasons. Firstly, its remote installation capability means that it doesn’t interfere with the aesthetic appeal of the glass closet. Secondly, its quiet operation ensures that the serene ambiance of the wine closet is maintained. Lastly, its efficient performance means that even in a glass enclosure, where temperature stability can be a challenge, the RMD HS 6600 can maintain the perfect conditions for wine storage.
The Advantages of Glass Wine Closets
With a capacity to cradle approximately 440 bottles, this framed glass wine closet is not just about storage; it’s about presentation. The custom LED lighting casts a warm glow, inviting you to admire the collection, while the horizontal and magnum bottle displays beckon you to explore the variety.
Wine closets are an excellent choice for wine storage for several reasons:
- Space Utilization: Wine closets make use of existing spaces in the home, such as underused closets or under-stair spaces. This is particularly beneficial for those who do not have the luxury of a dedicated room for a wine cellar.
- Ideal Conditions: Closets offer a controlled environment away from direct sunlight, providing a relatively stable temperature and humidity level. With the addition of a cooling unit, a closet can be transformed into an ideal wine storage space.
- Cost-Effective: Turning a closet into a wine cellar can be a cost-effective solution for wine storage. Since a portion of the structure is already built, this can help save on some costs.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Wine closets can be designed to match the interior decor of your home, adding an element of sophistication and elegance.

“Hello, this is Steve from Custom Wine Cellar and today we’re here at The Ridges, looking in Las Vegas Nevada, looking at the most beautiful wine cellar that we built here. So let me tell you, this is a brand new home they want to do something with the space kind of make it into that wine tasting feel, loungy area which they did. It’s fantastic but what we had to do is pretty much this was a just a big green piece of cabinet. We had to demo everything down to the studs and build it back up like a bathroom. We ran the line set all the way from here all the way back over to where their air conditioners and the pool equipment is on that other side, and then we have a ducted unit right above this space, and then we duct it in with the supply in the return right here with a HS 6600 unit that we used for the space here. Once we ran the line set and the ducting, what we did is put out the electrical and then we foamed so we used about 3-4 inches of closed cell foam, plywood, green board, mud sand, texture paint, as you can hear or you don’t hear is the unit is a ducted unit so it’s very, very quiet and it just kind of comes on probably we expect units to come on about 40-50% of the day, but if you highly insulate the space and you oversize the unit in certain situations you then can have a more efficient space especially after you fill the room up with the liquid or the wine itself.”
“Let’s get into the other thing that’s really important, so in Las Vegas it’s really tough to have frameless glass because, well, it gets to be about 100°+ in the summertime. Well, if you have frameless glass and it’s 100° outside you have to pretty much run your system at around 60-63° because your temperature inside the house is usually around 74°,75°,76° or sometimes even warmer, so with this we have a dual pane tempered glass and this is able to keep that seal, so even if it’s 70° or 80° outside this room it’s going to maintain that temperature at that 55°, 58° degrees which you want.”
“So from there then what we did is we supplied it with these racks, it’s a walnut racking on the side with a little bit of lacquer, with black rods. This is all sitting horizontally with two reveal rows and then again horizontal here. We are able to have magnum bottles both on the ground and then if you look onto the inside, on the inside door, again, more more horizontal bottles something to have a little you know box or case storage, horizontal display. We do then have a tabletop and then magnum displays which looks just amazing right there with a lot of different types of channel lighting and lighting. Also in between the second and the third row is we have some horizontal displays here as well going all the way down the side.”
“This holds about 440 bottles, close to that. And again, on the third size, it kind of copycats what the first section is a lot of the horizontal displays the reveal rows as well as the 750s going down in the horizontal display, and there’s definitely some room to put some other magnums or water in there. So if you’re looking to build a wine room, looking to talk about even framed or frameless glass and love this type of contemporary look, please reach out to customwinecellar.com.
